Field method

A practical sequence we use for public-sector service delivery metrics, case tracking samples, and departmental reporting packs — from first desk visit to clerk handover.

  1. Scope note

We confirm the department, reporting cycle, indicator list, and whether bilingual plates are required. You receive a written exclusions list before any on-site day is booked.

  2. Records morning

Two of us sit with the liaison at the registers. We photograph nothing that identifies citizens; extracts are transcribed into working sheets that stay under your control.

  3. Reconciliation

Prior packs are compared to ledgers. Drift is listed in plain language — missing months, double counts, aging rules that changed mid-year.

  4. Draft pack

Charts and narrative sections go to the director for comment. Captions follow your ministry template when one exists.

  5. Handover

A half-day with the clerk who will update the pack. We leave a one-page checklist for the next cycle and close the engagement when the director accepts.
